Scope: Convert a metal fabrication warehouse into a residence and studio space for two Montana artists.

Solution: Leave the existing structure intact to reflect the historical use and convert the interior into a contemporary living space which is both functional and inspiring to the artists. We kept the large open spaces while bringing in a sense of intimacy by using interesting materials such as fine wood cabinets juxtaposed with original cinder block, painted white, to define the living areas. Most of the structure was left in the original state.

Architectural Thoughts: We would love to live in this house. The combination of history, art and function gives the building new life while maintaining the original textures.
